Mice homozygous for a knock-out allele develop signs of autoimmune disease, such as vasculitis, glomerulonephritis, anemia and circulating autoantibodies, weigh less, and show impaired NK cell maturation, lower IL-15 production, a higher frequency of spontaneous vascular tumors, and premature death.
