Mice homozygous for a deletion of the entire gene show embryonic lethality prior to implantation. Mice homozygous for a deletion in the last exon are viable but exhibit small size, turbinate hypoplasia, short snout, severe microtia, outer and middle ear defects, and impaired hearing.
