Incidental mutations (data from Mutagenetix , APF )

Homozygous inactivation of this locus results in pleiotropic defects affecting the development of the epidermis, hair follicles, and immune system. Mutant mice become dehydrated due to impaired epidermal barrier function and die within days of birth.
