Mice homozygous for a knock-out allele exhibit abnormal response to wire injury of femoral arteries and increased VSMC apoptosis in response to wire injury or mechanical stress. Mice homozygous for a different knock-out allele show normal platelet integrin function both in vitro and in vivo.
