  • Experiment
Somatic cell hybrids were from fusions of T(2;16)28H mouse cells homozygous for translocated Chromosomes 216 and 162 and Chinese hamster cell line Ade-C neor. Hybrids selected in purine free medium will require the distal portion of mouse Chromosome 16 (216) because 216 contains the mouse Prgs locus that can compensate for the purine deficient hamster Ade-C cells. Five independent Prgs+ neor clones were analyzed. Prm1 was detected in clones I28A3 and I28A9 only, indicating that this locus is carried on the proximal 162 portion of Chromosome 16.
