  The hr allele followed was hr^TgN5053Mm, a transgene insertion generated using (C57BL/6 x C3H/He)F2 zygotes and a construct containing an amylase/elastase enhancer/promoter. Allelism tests showed 31/77 offspring of an HRS/J-hr/hr x transgenic line 5053 (heterozygous for hr^TgN5053Mm) were phenotypically hairless and carried the transgene. Further, 18/32 offspring of hr^TgN5053Mm/hr^TgN5053Mm x HRS/J-hr/+ were hairless demonstrating that hr and hr^TgN5053Mm do not complement one another and suggesting the transgene insertion has interrupted the hr gene.Offspring types indicate alleles inherited from F1 parent.
