  A recombination event occurred between Igk-V28 and Cd8b in backcross generation 26 or 27 during construction of the congenic strain B6.PL-Cd8a^a, Cd8b^a(85NS)/Cy (formerly B6.PL-Ly-2a, Ly-3a(85NS)/Cy). Thus this congenic carries the C57BL/6 allele for Igk-V28^b. These data together with those obtained for Igk-V28 and Cd8b using recombinant inbred strains and other congenic strains, yield a recombination percentage estimate of 0.30% (95% confidence interval 0.05% to 1.6%) for the distance between Igk-V28 and Cd8b (1 recombinant in 337 meioses).
