    To map the Mdac locus (Dac/+ Mdac/mdac) F1 mice were generated by crossing the dactylaplasia mouse (Dac/+ mdac/mdac) with C57BL/6J (+/+ Mdac/Mdac). The F1 hybrides were then backcrossed to the dactylaplasia parental strain. Mdac was found to map to a 9.4 Mb region flanked by D13Mit113 and D13Mit310.
