Test Description: Mice were injected with a CT contrast agent, Omnipaque 300 (Nycomed Amershan, 300 mg of iodine per ml, 0.25ml per animal, or 2.50-3.75 g iodine/kg of body weight) intraperitoneally. After resting in the cage for ~ 10 minutes, the mouse was then sedated by intraperitoneal injection of Avertin (1.25% 2,2,2,-tribromoethanol, 20 ml/kg body weight ). A CAT-scan was performed using a MicroCAT scanner (ImTek, Inc.) with the anesthetized animal lying prone on the test bed. Three dimensional images were reconstructed by the Feldkamp algorithm in a cluster of workstations using an ImTek 3D RECON software.
