Mutation details: A bacterial lacZ gene was inserted into the gene such that the endogenous gene promoter drives expression of beta-galactosidase. RT-PCR analysis detects a high level of gene transcript in the pancreas and lower levels in brain, brainstem, spinal cord, pancreas pituitary gland, adrenal gland, salivary gland, tongue, stomach, small intestine, large intestine, cecum, testis and epididymis. Beta-galactosidase expression from this allele is not detectable in any tissues or organs analyzed.
