Mutation details: A bacterial lacZ gene was inserted into the gene such that the endogenous gene promoter drives expression of beta-galactosidase. While RT-PCR analysis detects a gene transcript in most tissues analyzed, beta-galactosidase expression from this allele is detectable in all organs examined, with most striking expression in aorta and other blood vessels, heart valve, renal papilla, muscularis of the urinary bladder, corpus lutea in the ovary and in testis.
