Mutation details: A bacterial lacZ gene was inserted into the gene such that the endogenous gene promoter drives expression of beta-galactosidase. Low levels of RNA transcripts are detectable in brain, cortex, subcortical region, brainstem, olfactory bulb, large intestine, cecum and testis. No RNA transcripts are detectable in cerebellum, spinal cord, eye, Harderian glands, heart, lung, liver, pancreas, kidney, spleen, thymus, lymph nodes, bone marrow, skin, gallbladder, urinary bladder, pituitary gland, adrenal gland, salivary gland, skeletal muscle, tongue, stomach, small intestine, epididymis, seminal vesicle, coagulating gland, prostate gland, ovaries, uterus and white fat. LacZ (beta-galactosidase) expression is detectable in brain, spinal cord, pituitary gland and testis. Most striking expression is observed in brain.
