Mutation details: A bacterial lacZ gene was inserted into the gene such that the endogenous gene promoter drives expression of beta-galactosidase. While RT-PCR analysis detects a gene transcript in many of the tissues analyzed, beta-galactosidase expression from this allele is detectable in brain, spinal cord, sciatic nerve, eyes, thymus, spleen, lymph nodes, aorta, heart, lung, liver, pancreas, kidney, urinary bladder, thyroid gland, pituitary gland, adrenal glands, skeletal muscle, skin, ad reproductive organs but not in bone marrow.
