Mutation details: The transgene strain was created by microinjection of the human BAC RPCI11-655K11 into embryos homozygous for Mc1re. The BAC contains 146 kb of sequence with the complete human gene MC1R and includes at least 4 other genes. Quantitative RT-PCR on skin samples indicated that expression of the human MC1R was 9- to 20-fold lower than the endogenous mouse gene. (J:129904)
