Mutation details: Exon 1, encoding the first transmembrane domain through the beginning of the first P1 loop was disrupted by homologous recombination. An IRES-lacZ-SV40pA-neo cassette containing a stop codon in all three reading frames replaced the first 21 amino acids. In situ hybridization and real time PCR showed that the targeted allele is not expressed in either mutant brain or heart samples. (J:103747)
