Mutation details: A polIIsneopA cassette was inserted to replace exons 2 and 3, which encode the first 123 of 225 amino acids. Northern blot and immunoblot failed to detect wild-type transcript and protein, respectively. An aberrant transcript was detected, possibly due to an initiation site in exons 1a or 1b and splicing directly to exon 4, 5 or 6. In such a transcript, the first available start codon is in exon 5, and, if translated, this transcript would yield a 23 amino-acid peptide. (J:101203)
