Mutation details: This transgene consists of a 17.5 kb fragment of DNA extending about 6 kb upstream to 1.5 kb downstream of the human GFAP gene, including regulatory elements sufficient to direct astrocyte-specific expression. Five lines were established 2 of which had high levels of expression in at least some mice (73.1 uniformly high expression and 73.7 about 20% with high expression). Line 73.7 was given a strain designation TgN(GFAP)Mes10. This is the representative record for both high expressing lines. (J:99256)
