Transgene
Type: | |
Transgenic (random, expressed) |
|
Mutation: | |
Insertion |
| |
|
Mutation details: The rat tyrosine hydrolase promoter directs expression of human v-myc myelocytomatosis viral related oncogene, neuroblastoma derived (avian) (MYCN) to migrating cells of the neural crest during early development. Expression was found in the adrenal gland with marginal expression in brain, heart, testes and spleen. (J:41126)

Notes |
Mice carrying this transgene on a 129X1/SvJ background are predisposed to neuroblastoma and show many of the features of the human childhood disease. Genomic analysis of tumors from these mice have shown allelic imbalance in chromosomal regions orthologous to those found in human neuroblastoma.
