Transgene description |
|
Transgene
Type: | |
Transgenic (random, expressed) |
|
Mutation: | |
Insertion |
| |
|
Mutation details: The transgene consists of a 2.2 kb fragment of human GFAP promoter, active in central nervous system cells of the astrocyte lineage, and a mutant SV40 T antigen sequence, which contains a deletion for the small t antigen-specific splice signal and a deletion resulting in truncation of the large T antigen at amino acid 121. Transgene expression in central nervous system cells of the astrocyte lineage was observed by immunohistochemical staining of brain sections from transgenic animals. (J:77132)

Notes |
10 out of 13 founder animals developed severe brain abnormalities and died by 7-9 days of age. This transgene differs from Tg(GFAP-TAg121)1Tvd, which is a derivative of Tg(GFAP-lacZ-TAg121)92Tvd, and contains a loxP site in place of a Cre deleted lacZ cassette.
