Caption Bone marrow from mouse femurs was isolated and prepped for electron microscopy. Shown is a portion of a single mature megakaryocyte from a normal wild-type mouse (upper) and a Gp1batm1Ware/Gp1batm1Ware mouse (GP Ibalphanull, lower). Nuclear material is shown (nucl) along with the developing platelet field and demarcation membrane system in a normal megakaryocyte cytoplasm. Gp1batm1Ware/Gp1batm1Ware mice are devoid of a normal developing platelet field.
