Caption Increased susceptibility to induced colitis in Nlrp6tm1Macha/Nlrp6tm1Macha mice. Wild-type (Nlrp6+/+) and Nlrp6tm1Macha/Nlrp6tm1Macha (Nlrp6-/-) mice were challenged with 3% dextran sodium sulfate (DSS) for 6 or 7 days followed by a 10 day period of regular drinking water. (C). Endoscopic analysis was made before necropsy to observe the tissue damage after 6 days of DSS treatment. Representative photographs of dissected wild-type and Nlrp6tm1Macha/Nlrp6tm1Macha mice at day 6 (D) and day 17 (H). The histological score was evaluated on serial colonic sections stained with H&E at day 6 (from nine wild-type and six mutant mice) (F).
