Subcortical morphological changes in Wdfy3^disc/Wdfy3^disc (disc/disc) mutants at E11.5. At the onset of cortical neurogenesis at E11.5 homozygous mutants show morphological anomalies in subcortical domains. (A) Nissl-stained coronal sections of E11.5 heads show diminished medial and lateral ganglionic eminences (MGE, LGE) in the mutant (asterisks). No overt abnormalities can be seen in the mutant neocortical epithelium while the ventricles appear clearly enlarged. LV, lateral ventricle; III. V, third ventricle. Scale bar is 200 um.
