Caption Reprogramming of adult mouse rods into cone-like cells in Nrltm1Jcco/Nrltm1Jcco Tg(CAG-cre/Esr1*)5Amc/0 (Acute Nrl KO) mice. Mice were treated with 4-hydroxytamoxifen (4-OHT) at P42 and sacrificed for analysis at P63. Control is Nrltm1Jcco/Nrl+ Tg(CAG-cre/Esr1*)5Amc/0 + 4-OHT and acute Nrl KO is Nrltm1Jcco/Nrltm1Jcco Tg(CAG-cre/Esr1*)5Amc/0 + 4-OHT. (B) H&E and in situ hybridization staining for rod and cone transcripts. Gnb1, G protein Beta subunit 1 in rod transducin. Note that acute Nrl KO results in variable waviness of the outer nuclear layer (ONL), but no frank rosette formation as observed in the germ-line KO.
