Approach to inanimate and animate objects. (A) Behavioral tests of approach to inanimate objects in the open field. The mice were first placed in the open field box without the object (habituation), then placed again in the open field with the large or small object (right). Approach was measured by the numbers of direct contacts with the large or small object (left). The traces are representative ones of wild-type (WT) and Lrrtm1^tm1.1Jaru/Lrrtm1^tm1.1Jaru (KO) mice during the habituation and the test session with the large object (middle; results are given for a pair that showed comparable trace patterns in habituation). Values are presented as means +/- SEM. *P < 0.05.
