No apparent skin lesions were observed in Apoe^tm1Unc/Apoe^tm1Unc (A) and Ldlr^tm1Her/Ldlr^tm1Her (B) mice. Soat1^tm1Ishi/Soat1^tm1Ishi Apoe^tm1Unc/Apoe^tm1Unc (C) and Soat1^tm1Ishi/Soat1^tm1Ishi Ldlr^tm1Her/Ldlr^tm1Her (D) mice developed generalized alopecia with scaly thickened skin. Apoe^tm1Unc/Apoe^tm1Unc and Soat1^tm1Ishi/Soat1^tm1Ishi Apoe^tm1Unc/Apoe^tm1Unc mice were 7 month old males fed a normal chow diet. Ldlr^tm1Her/Ldlr^tm1Her and Soat1^tm1Ishi/Soat1^tm1Ishi Ldlr^tm1Her/Ldlr^tm1Her mice were 5 month old females fed the high fat diet B for 8 weeks.
