A-D: Hematoxylin and eosin staining of testes from wild type (WT) (A and B) and Mlh1^tm1Wed/Mlh1^tm1Wed (Mlh1^G67R/G67R) (C and D) males, showing normal progression of spermatogenesis in wild type and failure to progress beyond metaphase I in mutant adult testes. Aberrant spindle configurations are observed in testis sections from males (arrows). E and F: Metaphase spreads from wild type (E) and mutant (F) spermatocytes show abnormal metaphase configurations in the mutant mice. Almost all chromosomes are univalent, with only very few crossovers remaining (arrow) in mutant spermatocytes. Scale bar: A-D, 100um.
