Phenotype Image Detail
Image
Caption (A) As compared with the +/+ wild-type skeleton (lower) the skeleton of the Fgfr3tm1Wei/Fgfr3tm1Wei (upper) shows a kinky and elongated tail, as well as bent and longer long bones, especially in the femur. (B) Comparison of the femurs from the +/+ wild-type (left) and the Fgfr3tm1Wei/Fgfr3tm1Wei (right). (C-F) Histological analysis of the Fgfr3tm1Wei/Fgfr3tm1Wei reveals growth plates (D & F) are longer then the growth plates of the +/+ wild-type (C & E), which is attributable to an increase in proliferating chondrocytes. Abbreviations: hypertrophic zone (HZ); proliferating zone (PZ).
