Caption Pigmentation is completely absent from skin, hair and eyes of Tyrc-2J/Tyrc-2J mice. They are phenotypically identical to homozygotes for the albino allele. There is almost no tyrosinase protein present. Homozygote and heterozygote mice are highly resistant to light damage and exhibit retinal degeneration into young adutlhood but doesn't contunue in adults.
