GO curators for mouse genes have assigned the following annotations to the gene product of Sncaip. (This text reflects annotations as of Wednesday, January 23, 2013.) MGI curation of this mouse gene is considered complete, including annotations derived from the biomedical literature as of September 9, 2005. If you know of any additional information regarding this mouse gene please let us know. Please supply mouse gene symbol and a PubMed ID.Summary from NCBI RefSeq
[Summary is not available for the mouse gene. This summary is for the human ortholog.] This gene encodes a protein containing several protein-protein interaction domains, including ankyrin-like repeats, a coiled-coil domain, and an ATP/GTP-binding motif. The encoded protein interacts with alpha-synuclein in neuronal tissue and may play a role in the formation of cytoplasmic inclusions and neurodegeneration. A mutation in this gene has been associated with Parkinson's disease. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms of this gene have been described, but the full-length nature of only two have been determined.
