Mutation
description
Allele Type:    Targeted (Recombinase)
Mutations:    Insertion, Intragenic deletion

Mesp2tm3(cre)Ysa expression driven by 1 gene

Mutation detailsThe entire Mesp2 gene was replaced with an in-frame cre gene and a PGK-puro cassette by homologous recombination into an ES cell line containing a disrupted Mesp1 allele (Mesp1tm3Ysa). This allele expresses Cre recombinase under the control of the Mesp2 promoter. (J:62984)

Notes
Chimera analysis in which double homozygous Mesp1tm3Ysa and Mesp2tm3(cre)Ysa mutant embryos were aggregated with wild-type embryos show that embryos develop normally, however double knock-out cells are scarcely seen in the anterior-cephalic and heart mesoderm, but they do contribute to the formation of somites, notochord, and gut, and the atrial appendage is exclusively composed of the mutant cells (J:62984).
