Germline Transmission:  Earliest citation of germline transmission: J:41934
Parent Cell Line:  TC1/TC-1 (ES Cell)
Strain of Origin:  129S6/SvEvTac
Mutation
description
Allele Type:    Targeted (Null/knockout)
Mutations:    Insertion, Intragenic deletion

Mutation detailsA neomycin selection cassette replaced a small 295 bp fragment in the second exon of the gene. Northern blot analysis on RNA derived from homozygous embryos demonstrated that a reduced amount of alpha-globin transcript was present in comparison to wild type. The authors propose that the remaining mRNA arose from the adjacent Hba-a2 gene. (J:41934)
