• tail tendons of 2 week old mice appear smaller and less vibrant than wild-type
• tendon crimp (irregular undulations of collagen fibers that result in a banding pattern) is missing in tail tendons
• tail tendon insertions are fainter and less conspicuous than wild-type
• first observed at P9, the diameters of collagen fibrils in tail tendons are smaller and more uniform than wild-type
• tendon cell numbers are reduced in some (flexor digitorium profundus and digitorium communis and ), but not all of tendons
• limb tendons also are smaller and less vibrant, but in contrast to tail tendons exhibit tendon crimp, however, banding is more condensed than in wild-type
• tendon sheaths are thicker and contain more cell layers by 2 weeks of age as compared to wild-type
