neoplasm
• of 11 mice with enlarged adrenals or overt masses in the adrenal 10 had cortical adenomas and 1 had medullary and cortical tumors
• ovarian tumors are seen but are less common compared to Leydig cell tumors in males and are rarely bilateral
• histology indicates these are sex cord stromal tumors
• at least 1 pancreatic adenoma was seen in 79.2% of heterozygotes over 270 days of age
• a few small islet adenomas with unusual morphology, producing predominately glucagon are found
• large pancreatic adenomas are almost always insulinomas
• seen in 6 of 60 heterozygotes over 270 days of age
• anterior pituitary microadenoma or adenoma are seen in 77.8% of females and 42% of males over 270 days of age
• many of the pituitary adenomas stain positive for prolactin
• Leydig cell tumors are frequently seen in males over 360 days of age and are often bilateral
• histology indicates these are sex cord stromal tumors

endocrine/exocrine glands
• gross pituitary abnormalities are seen in 91.4% of aged females but only 59.4% of aged males
• seen in 4 of 60 heterozygotes over 270 days of age
• hyperplastic or neoplastic changes are seen more frequently than in controls
• about 82% of aged mice display gross pancreatic abnormalities
• about 17 % of aged mice display marked hyperplasia of the pancreatic islets
• hyperplasia is more severe than that in aged controls
• frequently seen in males over 360 days of age
• often bilateral
