cardiovascular system
N
• despite altered vascular physiology, capillary contacts and fatigue time is normal
• sedentary mice exhibit aorta adaptations similar to those observed in exercised wild-type mice
• following treatment with phenylephrine, the aortic ring exhibits decreased contractile force compared to in similarly treated wild-type mice
• however, mice do not exhibit decreased sensitivity to phenylephrine and tracheal rings exhibit normal vasocontriction
• following exposure to achetylcholine, sedentary mice exhibit increased vascular relaxation of the aortic ring compared to sedentary wild-type mice that was similar to the relaxation seen in exercised wild-type mice
• however, mice exhibit normal tracheal ring vasodilation

• however, mice exhibit normal tracheal ring vasodilation
• sedentary mice exhibit an increase in the amount of type 2a fibers and a decrease in the amount of type 1b fibers that is similar to that observed in exercised wild-type mice
• further exercise does not increase the number of type 2a fibers as in wild-type mice
• however, skeletal muscle ultrastructure is normal

homeostasis/metabolism
N
• despite altered vascular physiology, mice exhibit normal blood pressure and chemistries
• male mice exhibit increased exercise endurance with increased time to fatigue, distance run and vertical work performed compared to wild-type mice
