nervous system
• synaptic plasticity is enhanced
• following treatment with tamoxifen, the ratio of NMDA/AMP excitatory postsynaptic currents (EPSCs) is increased 1.4+/-0.2-fold relative to in wild-type mice
• following treatment with tamoxifen, ifenprodil-sensitive EPSC charges are 3.2+/-0.5-fold more sensitive to ifenprodil and the decay time is longer compared to in wild-type mice
• following treatment with tamoxifen, field excitatory postsynaptic potential (fEPSP) is stimulated by low theta-burst stimulus that had no affect on wild-type mice
• following treatment with tamoxifen, NMDAR-mediated fEPSPs are increased relative to in wild-type mice and the ratio of NMDAR to AMPA fEPSP is 9.0+/-2.4-fold larger than in wild-type mice
• following treatment with tamoxifen, the induction threshold for long term potential is reduced but is reversed with ifenprodil treatment
• following treatment with tamoxifen, a stronger theta-burst that elicits a long term potential in wild-type mice elevates post-tetanic potential in mice compared to wild-type mice

behavior/neurological
• following treatment with tamoxifen, mice exhibit increased freezing when re-exposed to context at 24 hours
• following treatment with tamoxifen, less freezing is observed on the fourth exposure at 96 hours after training compared to wild-type mice
• following treatment with tamoxifen, when platform position in a water maze is reversed, mice exhibit shortened escape latency
• following treatment with tamoxifen, mice show improved performance in a reversal special learning task
