• in response to stimulation with high (16.8 mM) glucose levels islets produce less insulin compared to wild-type
• on a high fat diet, mice exhibit decreased blood glucose levels compared to wild-type
• on a high fat diet, mice did not develop significant glucose intolerance, unlike wild-type mice
• at 12 - 13 months of age, glucose tolerance is improved compared to age-matched wild-type mice
• however, at 10-12 weeks of age no difference in glucose tolerance is detected

liver/biliary system
• despite significant weight gain and increased fat mass in response to a high fat diet mice did not develop severe liver steatosis, unlike wild-type mice

endocrine/exocrine glands
• in response to stimulation with high (16.8 mM) glucose levels islets produce less insulin compared to wild-type
