• homozygous mice show enhanced cortical ocular-dominance (OD) plasticity at all ages, particularly during the critical period from postnatal days 22 to P31
• after monocular enucleation (ME) from P22-P31, the ipsilateral eye shows greater width of thalamocortical connections in layer 4; width of Arc induction in layer 4 of the binocular zone (BZ) is 22% (P31-P36) to 54% (P19-P25) greater vs wild-type mice and expansion of Arc induction is greater at P100-P110 compared to wild-type (after ME)
• after monocular deprivation (MD) by eyelid suture from P19-25, width of Arc induction is 17% greater than in wild-type
• after ME on mice at P25, analysis at P40 shows an 18% wider area of layer 4 receiving inputs from lateral geniculate neurons (thalamocortical connections) in mutants vs wild-type
