growth/size/body
• male body weight at 6-19 weeks of age, but not at 4 weeks of age, is 5-11% greater than in wild-type

homeostasis/metabolism
• induction of hyperthyroidism by administration of a daily injection of T3 results in a greater decrease in serum cholesterol levels than in controls
• significant increase in T4 levels in the thyroids of euthyroid mice
• significant increase in T3 levels in the thyroids of euthyroid mice
• elevation in serum reverse T3 (3,3',5'-triiodothyronine) levels but not T3 (3,5,3'-triiodothyronine) or thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) and no evidence of peripheral hypothyroidism
• urinary excretion of [125I] iodide is markedly diminished after injection of radiolabeled T4 or T3 (for T4, 10% vs. 40% in controls; for T3, 10% vs. 45% in controls)
• induction of hyperthyroidism by administration of a daily injection of T3 results in a greater decrease in serum cholesterol levels and a larger increase in the heart weight/body weight ratio than in controls

digestive/alimentary system
• fecal excretion of endogenous iodothyronines is greatly increased, with a 2- and 3-fold increase in T4 and T3, respectively, and a 5-fold increase in rT3 and 3,3-T2
• fecal excretion of [125I] iodothyronines is greatly increased after injection of radiolabeled T4 or T3 (for T4, 70% vs. 42% in controls; for T3, 80% vs. 45% in controls)

renal/urinary system
• urinary excretion of [125I] iodide is markedly diminished after injection of radiolabeled T4 or T3 (for T4, 10% vs. 40% in controls; for T3, 10% vs. 45% in controls)

endocrine/exocrine glands
• induction of hyperthyroidism by administration of a daily injection of T3 results in a greater degree of tissue hyperthyroidism than in wild-type
