MipCat-Tohm mutation (1 available); any Mip mutation (24 available)
phenotype observed in females
phenotype observed in males
N normal phenotype
• some of the epithelial cells were multilayered, in contrast to the single layer of epithelial cells observed in wild-type lenses
• lens fiber cells are slightly disorganized at E13.5 and the lens is disorganized and shows club-shaped and rounded fiber cells at E15.5
• lens undergoes disintegration and degeneration and has irregular arrangements of the lens fiber layers
• the nuclei of the fiber cells remain in both the anterior and posterior regions of the lenses unlike in controls in which the nuclei disappear
• bilateral congenital cataracts
• approximately half the weight wild-type eyes
• aside from the lens, the structure of the eye was normal
