cardiovascular system
• at P7, radial expansion of the retinal vascular plexus from the optic nerve head to the periphery is impaired
• vessel density is decreased compared to in wild-type retina
• however, retinal vascular angiogenesis is partially resolved by P10, and only mild patterning defects are present at P14
• retinal vasculature is narrow at branch points, unstable and poorly lumenized with slender sprouts compared to in wild-type retina
• the continuous junctions that decorate the capillary plexus in the retina are fragmented compared to in wild-type retinas
• proliferation of endothelial cells in the retina is decreased compared to in wild-type retina
• however, pericyte recruitment is normal
• more vessel regression is observed in the retina than in wild-type mice
• constitutive activation of Ctnnb1 of inhibition of Notch signaling by DAPT treatment fails to rescue vessel regression
• at P7, radial expansion of the retinal vascular plexus from the optic nerve head to the periphery is impaired
