Sostdc1shk/Sostdc1shk mice exhibit supernumerary incisors

craniofacial
• females, but not males, have shorter skull height
• males have less skull morphological abnormalities than females, but do have smaller skull width than controls
• there is some variation in the rate of growth of these supernumerary incisors
• Background Sensitivity: an extra pair of upper and lower incisors erupt posterior to the normal incisors, and there are separate roots for these extra teeth
• females, but not males, have a shorter jaw length than wildtype controls
• asymetrical, disorganized formation
• the rugae are disorganized and the anterior rugae do not fuse

skeleton
