mortality/aging
• die at or immediately after birth

respiratory system
• fail to begin breathing

nervous system
• in thalmic neurons the readily releasable vesicle pool charge following application of hypertonic sucrose is 16.1 +/- 3.5 pC compared to 211 +/- 39 pC in wild-type mice
• 21% of thalmic non-GABAergic neurons show no evoked response
• amplitudes in thalmic neurons average 91 +/- 16 pA compared to 2.44 +/- 0.33 nA in wild-type mice
• thalmic miniature EPSC amplitude is reduced by about 50% compared to wild-type mice
• thalmic miniature EPSC frequency is reduced by greater than 90% compared to wild-type mice

nervous system
• thalmic miniature EPSC amplitude is intermediate between wild-type and homozygous mice

behavior/neurological
• time to extinction with repeated exposures is shorter in especially in low-responder heterozygotes compared to wild-type mice
• bury fewer marbles; however activity in the home cage and results in the open field, rotarod, elevated plus maze, social interaction, passive avoidance learning, Morris water maze, and context-dependent fear conditioning tests are all similar to wild-type mice
• in the spared nerve injury model of neuropathic pain mechanical allodynia is absent in males and significantly reduced in females compared to wild-type mice
• in the spared nerve injury model of neuropathic pain cold allodynia is absent in females and significantly reduced in males compared to wild-type mice
