mortality/aging
• 2 days after folic acid injection (250 mg/kg) to induce acute tubular necrosis more than 23% of homozygotes had died compared to less than 2% of wild-type mice

renal/urinary system
• in the unilater ureteral obstruction model of fibrosis a 2-fold increase in fibrosis is seen in the obstructed kidney and fibrosis is also seen in the contralateral kidney unlike in wild-type mice
• in the absence of treatment homozygotes do not display any gross malformations and are fertile

homeostasis/metabolism
• by 7 days after folic acid injection (250 mg/kg) to induce acute tubular necrosis cortical cysts and extracellular matrix deposition are seen in mutant kidneys while wild-type kidneys show nearly complete recovery
• by 28 days after folic acid injection (250 mg/kg) substantial kidney scarring is still seen
