• increased succeptibility to light induced retinal damage

• decreased thickness of outer nuclear layer

• damage progressively increased for 12 days

abnormal eye electrophysiology ( J:90117 )

• rod mediated ERG waveform was normal but amplitudes for a- and b-waves were significantly increased

• effect on b-wave greater than on a-wave

• a-wave effect significant only at higher light intensities

• cone mediated ERG was unaffected
