N normal phenotype
mortality/aging
• 100% penetrance on an isogenic 129/Sv background

N normal phenotype
mortality/aging
• increased lethality of mice that survived the postnatal between 1 and 9 months of age
• mice dying during this period did not exhibit dilated ventricles, but rather a reduction in the number of mitochondria in the heart
• no growth retardation, fatigue, or inability to suckle
• lethality beginning 2 days after birth
• most died between 5 and 10 days after birth
• 90% had died by 3 weeks of age
• near 100% survival on a background involving 129/SvEvTac, C57BL/6, and FVB

cardiovascular system
• detected after perinatal death, suggesting rapid progression and cardiac sudden death
• no evidence of myofiber hypertrophy, fatty infiltration, myocyte disarray, interstitial fibrosis, or defects of the ductus arteriosus, cardiac valves, or outflow tra
• severe bradycardia developing hours before death

respiratory system
N
• no evidence of interstitial fibrosis, smooth muscle hyperplasia, stenosis, or thrombus formation in the pulmonary vasculature
