• shift from reduced short chain fatty acids to elevated long chain fatty acids is seen in the white fat
• in white fat the fraction of triglycerides with shorter chain fatty acids is decreased and the fraction with longer chain fatty acids is increased
• decreased by about 70% in cardiac muscle compared to controls
• decreased by about 90% compared to controls
• increased by about 30% in brown fat compared to controls
• decrease in the formation of free fatty acids in white and brown fat, skeletal and cardiac muscle, liver, and brain
• reduced capacity for hydrolysis of diglycerides in all tissue examined
