Mutation details: -1,664/+83 of the promoter region for the short variant of human DSCR1 (Rcan1) was used to drive expression of a lacZ reporter gene within the Hprt locus. The promoter and start region for the Hprt locus was included in the 3' end of the construct to correct an endogenous defect in the ES cells. The reporter gene was uniformly expressed in the endothelium of heterozygote embryos but was down-regulated postnatally. Reporter gene expression was detected in a subset of endothelial cells in adult brain, heart, lung, and kidney.
