Transgene
description
Transgene Type:    Transgenic (Conditional ready, Humanized sequence, Inserted expressed sequence)
Mutation:    Insertion

Tg(Gfap-GFAP*R239H)60TMIke expresses 1 gene

Mutation detailsThe original construct for this transgene consisted of a 2.5 kb fragment of the mouse Gfap promoter followed by a floxed eGFP cDNA, and a human GFAP alpha isophorm cDNA with the R239H mutation. Line A60 containing more than 10 copies of the construct was repeatedly crossed to a cre deleter strain to remove all of the copies of eGFP. The resulting line (60TM) lacks eGFP but retains an estimated 3 copies of the human GFAP cDNA. Each copy of the human GFAP is preceded by a loxP site allowing for Cre-mediated deletion of all but 1 copy of the human GFAP cDNA. (J:139349)
