• Mutation details: This transgene puts the rat Olfr2 gene under the control of the mouse Olfr16 promoter. In the rat Olfr2 gene, the DRY motif at the cytoplasmic end of the transmembrane domain III was mutated to RDY. It was predicted this mutation would prevent association of G proteins involved in downstream signaling. An enhanced yellow fluorescent protein (YFP) reporter gene was also inserted downstream of the rat gene. YFP expression is observed in zone 1 of the olfactory epithelium of transgenic mice.
