Notes

The Reading resistant mouse strain (MHR) was homozygous for a resistance gene that had been transferred through six generations onto the Reading susceptible mouse MHS background (C. V. Prescott, unpublished results). The mouse resistance gene was obtained from a wild population of house mice originally trapped near Reading, UK.
